The Square Torpedo Drop-In Hi/Lo Electronic Ignition Fire Pit Burner Kit by HPC Fire is a commercial-grade, smart-automated gas fire pit insert manufactured by Hearth Products Controls (HPC). Explicitly engineered to sit securely within custom square fire pit tables, brick enclosures, or hardscape patio islands, this system integrates a deep, drop-in structural bowl pan with HPC's iconic Penta Burner configuration and high-velocity Torpedo Nozzle technology.

The premier Hi/Lo Electronic Ignition (EI) network provides full-scale wireless command and dual-stage flame scaling directly from your smartphone, tablet, or handheld remote.

High-Velocity Torpedo Nozzles & Penta Geometry

  • Roaring Torpedo Flame Booster: Torpedo configurations swap standard drilled burner ports for precision-engineered, heavy-duty brass nozzles. These specialized jets dramatically accelerate the gas-to-oxygen velocity, throwing extra-tall, robust, roaring flames that deliver the intense heat radiation, look, and motion of an authentic wood campfire.

  • Campfire-Style Penta Burner Layout: The kit utilizes HPC's signature Penta Burner hub machined with staggered ports. Its distinct five-point geometry forces fuel toward the center of the square pan layout, forming a dense, natural fire presentation that wraps beautifully around logs or fire glass without producing smoke or ash.

  • Self-Draining Drop-In Bowl Pan: Features a deep square bowl pan equipped with a 1.5-inch perimeter mounting edge rim to drop firmly and effortlessly into the top cutout opening of your non-combustible fire feature enclosure. Built entirely from premium, heavy-gauge 304 stainless steel, it is outfitted with integrated weep holes for quick water drainage and a specialized raised center burner hub to prevent moisture from entering the primary gas orifice.

Advanced Hi/Lo Ignition & Smart Telemetry

  • Two-Way Bluetooth App Integration: Built with an internal antenna inside its weather-sealed lower control box, the system seamlessly pairs with the proprietary, free HPC Fire smartphone app (iOS and Android). It provides a reliable wireless connection up to 20 feet away, unlocking power toggling, countdown sleep timers, safety data, and live system diagnostic troubleshooting.

  • 45% Variable Flame Height Turndown: Includes a dedicated handheld smart remote control. While entry-level gas fire pits only provide static on/off limits, the Hi/Lo fuel track supports variable flame tuning. Choose the "HI" mode for roaring thermal heat, or dial it back down by 45% to lower gas consumption and generate an intimate ambient glow.

  • Hot Surface Ignition (HSI) & Auto-Relight Protection: Uses a highly durable hot surface igniter paired with an advanced pilot flame loop and thermocouple. The safety module constantly monitors the active flame path. If an aggressive gust of wind unexpectedly blows out the fire, the valve instantly cuts off gas flow to prevent dangerous pooling, then safely initializes an automatic re-ignition sequence.

  • Overheat Diagnostic Auto-Shutoff: Integrated internal thermal diagnostics continuously monitor control box operating vitals. If poor ventilation or improper fire media nesting causes heat to spike inside the enclosure, the system triggers an emergency shutoff to protect the electronic boards.
