HPC Fire Square Flat Fire Pit Burner Kit (Hi/Lo Electronic Ignition)

The HPC Fire Square Flat Fire Pit Burner Kit with Hi/Lo Electronic Ignition is a commercial-grade, architectural outdoor fire insert manufactured by Hearth Products Controls (HPC). Engineered specifically for custom square fire pit tables, brick enclosures, or concrete blocks, this premium package utilizes a low-profile, flush-mount square flat plate (pan) rather than a deep bowl.

The system centers on HPC's advanced Hi/Lo Electronic Ignition (EI) module, adding smartphone-enabled, automated two-way telemetry control right to your backyard configuration.

Intelligent Hi/Lo Ignition & Smart Telemetry

  • Two-Way Bluetooth App Integration: Built with an internal antenna inside the weather-sealed lower control valve box, the system seamlessly pairs with the proprietary, free HPC Fire smartphone app (iOS and Android). It provides a reliable wireless connection up to 20 feet away, unlocking power toggling, countdown timers, and live system diagnostic monitoring.

  • 45% Variable Flame Height Turndown: Includes a dedicated handheld smart remote. While entry-level gas fire pits only provide static on/off controls, the Hi/Lo fuel track supports variable flame tuning. Choose the "HI" mode for roaring heat and dramatic flame display, or dial it back down by 40% to 45% to lower gas consumption and generate an intimate ambient glow.

  • Hot Surface Ignition & Flame Sensing Safety: Utilizes a heavy-duty Hot Surface Igniter (HSI) backed by an internal thermocouple pilot line. The advanced safety module continuously monitors the active flame front. If a sudden draft or gust of wind blows out the fire, the valve instantly cuts off gas flow to prevent dangerous accumulation, then automatically attempts a safe re-ignition sequence.

  • Overheat Diagnostic Guard: Built-in internal temperature sensors actively monitor the lower circuitry chamber. If improper fire glass nesting or poor base cavity ventilation causes heat to spike beyond safe boundaries, the system executes an emergency auto-shutoff to protect the motherboard.

Performance Hardware & Flat Pan Architecture

  • Campfire-Style Penta Burner Layout: The kit features HPC's iconic Penta Burner hub machined with staggered ports. Its distinct five-point geometry draws fuel toward the center of the square layout, forming a tall, dense, natural campfire-style presentation that wraps beautifully around logs or volcanic stones without smoke or embers.

  • Spun Round-on-Square Flat Pan: Precision-stamped from heavy-gauge, non-corrosive commercial 304 stainless steel. The flat square plate provides a rigid, flush resting lip to span your fire pit opening cleanly. It features pre-drilled weep holes for immediate rainwater drainage alongside a specialized raised center burner hub to prevent moisture from traveling down into the primary gas orifice.

Technical Specifications & System Scaling

  • Sizing Profiles & Starfire Direct Pricing (Options Adjust Total Cost):

    • 18" x 18" Flat Pan (with 12" Penta Burner): Generates high thermal output — Retails for $3,941.55 USD (Regularly $4,149.00)

    • 24" x 24" Flat Pan (with 18" Penta Burner): Generates high thermal output — Retails for $4,066.95 USD

    • 30" x 30" Flat Pan (with 24" Penta Burner): Generates massive thermal output — Retails for $4,361.45 USD

    • 36" x 36" Pan (with 30" Penta Burner): Flagship layout — Retails for $4,708.20 USD

  • Dedicated Fuel Calibration Options: Safety-certified and pre-built from the factory floor for either dedicated Natural Gas or Propane Gas HARDLINE configurations. Propane variants include integrated wire-mesh guards to keep spiders and debris from fouling the fuel lines.

  • Electrical Infrastructure Requirements: System mechanics require dedicated electricity. Selectable at purchase for either standard 120 VAC (includes an outdoor-grounded GFCI 3-prong line plug cord) or low-voltage 24 VAC (ideal for poolside boundaries or commercial properties; requires a separate external 24V transformer step-down power supply).
